Day 22 - August 24th

Started in Guadalajara (in Tlaquepaque) by finishing the motorbike repairs. Trevor's eye was about 74% better so repairs were doable. Got everything on except the new chain due to a tool malfunction - Dave's bad vibrations wrecked the poor tool. Went downstairs to get a coffee and found out Dave got a job! Congrats Dave. Went for breakky at Casa Del Waffle just down the street - highly recommend. Next we went from auto parts store to shop to shop to find a chain breaker tool. Ended up following a motorbike to a neat shop with lots of cool things. A quick $12 purchase later and the chain was being installed. WIthout any major hiccups, we were on our way. Finally got out of the city at about 2:30 and headed for a place recommended to us: Patzcuaro. After a couple hours on the road, we ran into a major tropical rainstorm. The roads were flooding and even our rain gear soaked through. Several times we considered stopping for the night in a sketchy neighbourhood just to escape the downpour. By the time we got to Patzcuaro, the rain had stopped. Drove the wrong way down some one-ways trying to find a hotel and ended up staying at a mission. Trevor had time for an oil change and Dave did some employment paperwork. Went to a food cart for some fried chicken (?) sandwiches which were spectacular. Started pissing rain so we grabbed some cervezas and went back to the mission. As we got there, the lightning storm hit. We explored the mission and found a solarium-type room with translucent sky lights. Pulled up a couple patio chairs and watched the lightning storm from inside. It was quite the show. What a way to end the day.

  1. Loctite MSDS: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for
several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to remove. Continue rinsing. If
skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical attention. If eye irritation persists: Get medical
attention. Take off contaminated clothing. Sounds to me like you're all good :)
